post em here... those words that just get you in your gut. could be anything. a sign you read, a poem, a line from a play, an exchange from a tv show. something your best friend said. so long as it pokes, prods, stings, or caresses you so much you find it hard to breathe. post it.
beware: avoid the tried and true quotes we've all heard. i'm looking to see what people really really hold dear. the interesting thing maybe you've never told anyone you appreciate.
...........
We believe that if the work we present is strong, communicative, and
effective, we will survive because you will come here.
If it is not, then you won't, and we will not survive. We like it like
that way. This is New York after all, and we're not afraid.
And we like kissing very very much.
You can tell everything in the first moment.
We have our whole lives to live and that is terribly important.
Culture should reflect that clearly.

Mon, December 19, 2005 - 3:48 PMI must not fear. Fear is the mindkiller. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Re: post those words that make you go....
Tue, December 27, 2005 - 8:51 PMwait.. i'm confused... which phrase is the direct translation?? -
-
Re: post those words that make you go....
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 9:09 AM
the direct translation is "I have nothing to drink with you about"
the phonetic translation is the one right under maria's cyrillic.
i don't know how to write cyrillic on my comp, so i'm glad she put it in right.
so far i've had the good sense to NEVER use this toast, especially later in the evening at the russian vodka room...

Re: post those words that make you go....
Tue, February 21, 2006 - 7:29 PMI would like to beg you... as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.

Re: post those words that make you go....
Wed, February 22, 2006 - 10:43 AMAbu Ben Adam (may his tribe increase)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace
And saw, within the moonlight of his room
Making it rich, like a lily in bloom
An angel writing in a book of gold.
Exceeding peace had made Abu Ben Adam bold
And to the presence in his room he said
'What writest thou?'
The vision raised its head
And with a look of all sweet accord
Answered: 'The names of those who love the Lord.'
'And is mine one?' said Abu.
'Nay not so'
Replied the Angel:
Abu spoke more low, but cheerily still and said
'I pray thee then
Write me as one that loves his fellow men'
The angel wrote and vanished.
The next night It came again with awaking light
And showed the names of whom love of God had blessed.
And lo! Ben Adam's name led all the rest.
Leigh Hunt
